Second Circular

Dear Colleague,
Thank you for your interest in the Ninth International Spring Seminar on Nuclear Physics which will be held in Vico Equense (40 km from Naples, 10 km from Sorrento) from Sunday May 20 to Thursday 24, 2007 . Participants are expected to arrive at Vico Equense by the evening of Saturday May 19. On Saturday afternoon the conference will provide a transfer service from the arrival points in Naples (Airport and Central Railway Station) to Vico Equense. The Seminar will begin on Sunday, May 20 at 9:00 a.m. and end on Thursday, May 24 at 6:30 p.m. An attendance of about 80 is expected on the basis of the replies to the first circular.
This Seminar is devoted to recent achievements and new challenges in nuclear structure experiment and theory. The main topics to be covered are:

• Exotic nuclear structure
• Nuclear structure and nuclear forces
• Shell model and nuclear structure
• Collective modes of nuclear excitation
• Special topics

Each of these topics will be covered by general talks and more specialized seminars. A poster session may also be organized. A third and final circular providing information on transportation from Naples to Vico Equense and social events as well as a detailed program will be posted on our Web site at the beginning of May. By the end of March you will find on this site the timetables of a bus service from the Naples Airport to Vico Equense and of the Circumvesuviana trains leaving from the Central Railway Station.
This second circular provides information on contributions, registration and accommodation.

CONTRIBUTIONS AND PROCEEDINGS

Invited speakers as well as participants wishing to contribute to the Seminar are requested to electronically submit a one-page abstract no later than April 10, 2007. All abstracts will be reproduced and collected in a volume to be issued to each participant at the time of registration. A limited number of oral presentations for seminars (lasting about 20 minutes) will be selected from contributions for which we have received abstracts prior to April 10. The relevance to the theme of the Seminar will be a prerequisite for this selection. Depending on the number of submitted abstracts, a poster session may also be organized. Notification of selected oral or poster presentation will be given to the authors by the end of April.
Abstracts should be written in LaTeX format, using the conference abstract template. Please send the LaTeX files by E-mail to VICO07@NA.INFN.IT. Should you have further questions, please contact the Scientific Secretary of the Seminar Angela Gargano. The Seminar proceedings will be published by World Scientific. The text of oral presentations (general talks and seminars) and of all contributions (as distinct from abstracts) relevant to the Seminar will be published in the proceedings. The decision about which contributions are to be published will be taken by the Advisory Committee. Contributions will not be included in the proceedings if you do not attend the Seminar.
The publication of the proceedings will utilize author-prepared copies. Instructions concerning the format and the length of the manuscript will be given in the third circular. The deadline for receipt of manuscripts is June 30, 2007. To publish the proceedings in a timely manner, this deadline must be strictly observed. No paper arriving later than this date will be accepted.

REGISTRATION

Please complete the registration form and submit it before April 5, 2007. The registration fee is € 250,00 and may be paid on arrival. This fee will include the welcome cocktail on Sunday evening, coffee break refreshments, the Seminar banquet for participants and accompanying persons and a copy of the proceedings. It does not include meals.

ACCOMMODATION

Participants will be lodged in three hotels: Oriente, where the Seminar will take place, Aequa and Astoria, all close to each other and a few steps from the Circumvesuviana Railway Station. Frequent trains lead to Sorrento in about 15 minutes or to Napoli in about 1 hour. Breakfast will be served in each hotel while dinner will be served to all participants at the Hotel Oriente. This will provide the opportunity for contacts and small group discussions in a very pleasant and informal atmosphere.
The package price offered covers accommodation for 6 nights with breakfast and dinner including dinner on May 19 and breakfast on May 25. Price per person at the Hotel Oriente or Aequa: in double room € 450,00; in single room € 510,00. Price per person at the Hotel Astoria: in double room € 300,00; in single room € 450,00. For children sharing parents' room there is a 30% discount on the above prices. The number of single rooms is limited. Accommodation will be granted on a first come first served basis. If the number of participants will exceed the room availability, we will try to arrange accommodation at another hotel of the same category based on availability.
Lunches during the Seminar are not included. Participants can enjoy them at typical restaurants or at the Hotel Oriente which can offer them a special price.
Before and after the Seminar the Hotels can provide accommodation, if room is available, on a half board basis at a special price per person and per day corresponding to one sixth of the package price.
The Seminar Center must receive reservations and a deposit of € 75,00 per person, as shown in the accommodation form before April 5, 2007.
No refunds are allowed on the package price for unused meals or for room occupancy less than 6 nights. Should you need any other kind of accommodation rather than the offered 6 nights package, you are kindly requested to specify it on the accommodation form or to contact the Hotel Oriente directly.
